Tour Overview

Welcome to a journey through Athens and Crete shaped by flavour, beauty, history and the warmth of its people.

We begin in Athens, where ancient landmarks rise above lively neighbourhoods, food markets spill into the streets and generations of culinary tradition sit comfortably alongside a vibrant modern city. From here, we travel south to Crete — an island of dramatic mountains, Venetian harbours, olive groves, vineyards, hidden villages and some of the most deeply rooted food traditions in the Mediterranean.

Crete is widely regarded as one of Greece’s great culinary destinations, where food remains deeply connected to the land, the seasons and the people who produce it. Its traditions stretch back thousands of years, with olive oil, wild herbs, vegetables, grains, farmhouse cheeses, honey, wine and simply prepared meats still forming the heart of the Cretan table today. What makes Cretan food so special is its simplicity. Exceptional ingredients are allowed to speak for themselves — freshly pressed olive oil, mountain herbs gathered from the wild, local cheeses, fragrant honey, indigenous wines and produce picked only hours before reaching the table. But eating in Crete is about much more than food. Meals are generous, social and unhurried, reflecting the hospitality and sense of community that remain central to island life. It is this combination of remarkable produce, ancient tradition and genuine hospitality that has earned Crete its reputation as one of the culinary heartlands of Greece. This journey has been designed to take you beyond the expected.

We will cook in family homes, share tables with local producers, taste wines made from indigenous grapes, meet shepherds high in the mountains, discover traditional crafts, visit farms and village cooperatives, and experience the ingredients and recipes that have shaped Cretan life for generations. There will be long lunches, beautiful wines, generous hospitality and moments that simply cannot be recreated by booking a restaurant or following a guidebook.Just as importantly, there is time to slow down — to wander through old towns, sit beside the sea, enjoy a quiet afternoon and absorb the rhythm of life around you.

For me, the most memorable journeys are not defined by how much we see, but by how deeply we experience a place. Athens and Crete offer us exactly that — a chance to connect with the people, stories, landscapes and flavours that give Greece its extraordinary sense of identity.
