A Taste of the Itinerary

Day 1 Barcelona

We meet you at Barcelona Airport and welcome you to this bustling city and to the beginning of your Catalonia tour. We transfer you to our Hotel, where you can check in and settle into the Spanish lifestyle.  You are free for the afternoon to do a spot of exploring the city, you may want to wander down to the beautiful Barcelona Olympic Port close to both Barceloneta Beach and Icària Beach, two of Barcelona’s popular spots for walking, sight-seeing and eating. Barceloneta  is a triangle of reclaimed land about 70 hectares in size, jutting out to the Mediterranean Sea. It has a wonderful village feel, with 20 or so narrow streets and filled with upmarket eateries and traditional bars.  We will meet you in the evening for a welcome drink and a small introduction to the tour, followed by a fabulous Private chefs dinner.

Day 2 Barcelona

After a relaxed breakfast we start to discover Barcelona with a tour by private bus. With our personal guide we see some of Barcelona’s iconic architectural creations by the famous “Gaudi”. Gaudí used colours and shapes found in marine life as inspiration for his creativity. We visit inside the Sagrada Familia, one of Gaudí’s most famous works in Barcelona. It’s a giant Basilica that has been under construction since 1882 and it’s not expected to be completed for another 30 to 80 years.

After Sagrada Familia visit we wander through the winding streets of The Gothic quarter enjoying the Cathedral, churches and squares, explaining the history of Barcelona with its Roman and medieval past. In this walking gourmet tour we will be stopping in speciality food shops for tastings of Catalan cheese, charcuterie, pastries, olives and chocolates. For lunch we dine in a fantastic local tapas bar down a little laneway which really celebrates the best of tapas in style. This is where the locals eat. The rest of the afternoon is fre until we meet for dinner for a very special experfience. Tonight we dine in the 9th best restaurant in the world  “Disfrutar” with 20 small courses accompanied by some of the best wines in Spain. This is an experience of a life time and not to be missed. Day 3 La Boqueria Markets, Wine Tasting and Cooking Class

After breakfast we meet our guide and venture a little deeper into the beating heart of Barcelona.  We head out to  meet our gourmet expert guide who will take us on our  first gastronomy adventure  visiting the famous Boqueria food market.    These markets date back to 1217, when tables were installed near the old door of the city to sell meat. From 1470 to 1794 it was known as Mercat de la Palla (or Straw Market) until it found its home on La Rambla in 1862, where it remains now. This is one of Barcelona’s best markets and an amazing opportunity for you to practice some Spanish, heading out on your own and tasting some of Barcelona’s fresh local produce.  We leave you to roam at your leisure and be part of this iconic Barcelonan tradition.  Anything from Iberic cured ham, spiced Catalan sausages, tomato bread, mussels with “vinagreta”, anchovies, prawns cooked in garlic sauce, and loads more….can be enjoyed as a tapa…just delicious.

Here we will enjoy an incredible contrast between colours and activity, ideal to discover why Mediterranean cuisine is internationally known due to its ingredients. Our culinary expert will guide us through the best purveyors of fruit, vegetables, meats, seafood, bread and desserts. For lunch we head to   Albet|noia   a boutique  exclusive winery located in a unique setting and surrounded by vineyards and nature. Arguably the first organic winery in Spain and a perfect venue for people passionate about wine and vineyards.  Here we enjoy a wine tasting and incredible lunch overlooking the vineyards. We give you some time for siesta in the afternoon and then meet again for our evening of cooking. This cooking workshop  consists of cooking a 4-course meal of traditional Spanish cuisine. Every dish is prepared one after the other, in a successive way, so everybody gets to cook and you see the whole process for all the recipes prepared, we then share a relaxed dinner and finish the evening with laughter.
