Gourmet Immersion Tour – Exotic and Mystical Morocco

Discover Morocco

Experience the country, sea and city as we take you on an exciting culinary and cultural journey of Morocco  and its surrounding towns. The Highlights of our Morocco trip truly covers a diverse country ranging from fertile fields, captivating mountains, desert sands and arid landscapes as well as cities, small towns and mountain villages each with their own unique characteristics and people. The trip offers the opportunity to not only experience Morocco’s wonderful landscape, but also to meet the people and to learn about their culture and way of life.

Morocco, described as being dazzling and beguiling,  the hustle and bustle of the various Medinas is intoxicating, the serene calmness of the mountains is invigorating. The enticing smells of the spices and the ochre colour of the mud brick houses will be embedded fondly in your memory.

Beaches and Berbers, medinas and mosques, souks and sand dunes… Morocco has variety, mystery, history and an exotic culture that has fascinated travellers since long before the modern traveller arrived. Affordable and only a short ferry from Spain, Morocco’s mix of traditional and modern strikes the perfect balance between the intensely exotic and comfortingly familiar.  With knowledgable and insightful guides  and warm and generous locals who truly enjoy showing and sharing their country with you. During the tour, visit  Medinas, Mosques and markets, as well as discover where the Moroccans make and paint their pottery, dye and make the leather goods, weave the famous morocccan rugs, gather the argan nuts and turn them into product, and buy and eat fresh seafood right off the boats. To experience as much of Morocco as you can without lifting a finger is easy. Our itinerary  will maximize your time so you can experience the many different cultures of a fascinating country.

Cities like Fez, Marrakech, and Casablanca evoke images of medinas, spice markets, and couscous, while the geographic extremes – from the Atlas Mountains to country resorts to camels in the desert – make it eminently photogenic. The mad circus of Marrakech’s Djemaa el Fna square, packed with incense, salesmen, and snake charmers, is so bizarre and entertaining you’ll be looking for the hidden camera.

Moroccan Tour in Detail:

A taste of the itinerary

Day 1: Arrival & Welcome to Rabat

We meet you at Casablanca airport where you will be greeted and picked up by our private driver and guide. From the airport, we will drive north to the capital city of Rabat.  Giving you free time to check-in and freshen up, we begin our exotic journey with an introductory guided tour of the city. We visit the King’s Mausoleum, which was built in 1971 and which houses the remains of the late King Hassan II, Prince Abdallah, and their father King Mohamed V. In front of the Mausoleum, you will find the Hassan Tower, an incomplete red sandstone minaret which began construction in 1195AD. The next stop in your visit will be the Kasbah des Ouadayas, an Almohad fortress built in 1150AD. From the Kasbah des Oudayas, you can take a stroll through the famous winding blue streets, we enjoy a mint tea at the Cafe Maure overlooking the Bou Regreg River. Our evening is a gourmet introduction to Moroccan cuisine with  free time for you to relax and take in the magic of our first day. Overnight in Rabat D

Day 2: Welcome to Fes

After breakfast we drive to Fes, around 4 hours away from Rabat. Upon arrival, we check-in and have lunch at a local restaurant.  We then enjoy a half day guided tour of the city’s most important historical and cultural sites. Founded in 781AD, Fes is now considered the world’s largest car-free urban zone. Beware of mule-drawn carriages that speed through the alleyways, and check out a local pharmacy with its mysterious canisters of roots, flowers and powders. You’ll stop at the medina’s Jewish quarter, the medersas, and the legendary tanneries, where ancient techniques are still used to prepare Moroccan leather which is then used in a variety of goods from clothing to bags and other handicrafts. In addition, you’ll also stop by the world’s oldest and longest operating learning

institution, the University of Al Quaraouiyine, founded in 859AD. We then discover the world of spices and their uses under the guidance of a culinary leader. Tonight is at your leisure with free time to wander out and enjoy some of the town’s best restaurants. Overnight in Fes B/L

Day 3: Fessi Cuisine

After a leisurely breakfast, the group will meet up with the head chef of Palais Amani for a special cooking class. The class starts with shopping for ingredients in the local souqs. We will then return to the hotel’s rooftop cooking classroom. Each region of Morocco has its own delicacies and Fessi cuisine is known for its mix of sweet and savory in a single dish. After working up an appetite in the class, we will sit down for a delicious and well deserved lunch. The rest of the afternoon is at leisure. You can head back to the medina to explore and shop some more, or just rest at the riad. Dinner this evening is on your own. Overnight in Fes B/L
